DNP Degree Programs From Mary Baldwin

MBU offers three Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees and a certificate, providing nurses with options to advance their careers.

The Post-MSN Doctor of Nursing Practice program is designed for nurses who already hold a Master of Science in Nursing and want to focus on clinical practice leadership, systems innovation and evidence-based care. This post-MSN DNP program provides:

  • A solid foundation in advanced scientific nursing knowledge,
  • Stronger leadership skills.
  • The ability to address health disparities and advocate for diverse populations.
  • The knowledge for the practical application of policy, ethics, professional standards, and evidence-based practices.

Graduates from the program are empowered to become change agents within complex healthcare environments. Throughout the program, students complete a clinical project and gain a total of 400 project hours, building upon the hours earned during their MSN program to meet the required 1,000 hours of clinical experience.

The DNP-FNP program builds on your nursing foundation and prepares you to provide primary care to patients of all ages. This program is ideal for nurses seeking both advanced clinical expertise and the highest degree in nursing practice. Skills gained in the program include:

  • Conducting comprehensive health history assessments.
  • Physical examination techniques.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of common acute and chronic conditions.
  • Interpretation of laboratory results and diagnostic procedures.
  • Prescription and management of medications and therapies.
  • Supportive counseling, patient and family education.

Graduates from the program are prepared to provide primary, acute, chronic and specialty care to patients of all ages. FNPs work in private practice, community health centers, healthcare systems and universities. FNPs often serve as the main provider of primary care.

Already have an MSN and want to broaden your career opportunities? The Post-MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate is designed for MSN graduates seeking to become licensed FNPs. The part-time, 20-month hybrid program combines online courses with hands-on campus intensives. Graduates gain the knowledge and expertise needed to pass the National Certification Examination (NCE). 

This program builds on your existing knowledge while focusing on:

  • Preparing for FNP certification exams.
